About the Internship

The Interfaith Children’s Movement (ICM) Youth Advocacy Internship offers a unique 12-week opportunity for young people ages 13-18 to get involved in creating positive change for children and families across Georgia. This program provides a platform for youth to address important issues and actively advocate for the causes that matter most to them.

Interns in the program come from a wide range of backgrounds, tackling critical topics such as gun violence, bullying, mental health, and poverty. Throughout the internship, participants work directly with elected officials and community leaders, turning their ideas into action, and using their voices to make a real impact.

The internship focuses on providing hands-on experience in youth leadership, community organizing, and advocacy. Interns visit historic sites across Georgia, and attend weekly “Team Huddle” Saturday sessions, where they develop valuable skills, gain insights from prominent advocates, religious leaders, and experts, collaborating with peers who share their passion for change. Participants will earn community service hours, build lasting friendships, and unlock their transformative leadership potential.

What makes the ICM Youth Advocacy Internship unique? Interns explore how different faith traditions and practices unify and call us to work toward a world where children and their families are respected, valued, and cared for. They gain a deeper understanding of how their faith can be a driving force for social change.

Many past interns have returned to their schools and communities to apply the knowledge and skills gained through the program. They’ve implemented new research, shaped policies, and raised awareness about critical issues affecting children and families. The work done by these interns has created positive, lasting change throughout Georgia.

The ICM Youth Advocacy Internship is more than just a program, it’s an opportunity to help shape the future. Our participants join a network of youth from diverse backgrounds and beliefs, all working together to amplify and uplift the voices and needs of all Georgia’s children.
