ICM Day at The Capitol 2

Youth especially invited: Observe government in action and make your voice heard.

Your legislators want to hear from you.    

Be the voice for children who have no voice - that is part of being in a Movement.

MONDAY, March 4, 9:00 AM – noon

Look for the ICM table in the South Wing / Capitol


Please plan to arrive at the Capitol no later than 9 AM.

ABOUT THIS EVENT

  • WHAT: ICM Day at the Capitol 2

  • PURPOSE: To meet district legislators in order to address proposed legislation or issues of community concern

NOTES:

Must have identification,  i.e. license, etc,. to enter the Building!

  • Sign in at ICM Registration Table

SCHEDULE: 

  • 9:30 AM: Group picture with Rep. Mitchell

  • 10 AM: Students/Teachers observe legislative Session in the House Gallery.

  • Meet your legislators and tell them which bills you have opinions about.

  • Pick up ICM tee shirt and other PR materials.     

We are trying to schedule a meeting with Governor Kemp.

Calling all people of faith. Establish a working campaign and plan to end human trafficking.

Registration is FREE for this Action Workshop. However, you must RSVP as space is limited.

Workshop Expected Outcomes

  • Define labor and sexual exploitation

  • Identify social conditions that facilitate the exploitation of persons

  • Gain steps to address the identified conditions

  • Get guidance on how to build a collective action campaign within your faith community that focuses on the solution

The Stresses of Being a Foster Mother

In an informal talk, a foster mother to 5 siblings, plus her own 4, opens a lens for us into the foster care system.  She is a woman with immense fortitude and a very good heart.  

How to Be an Advocate

The 2019 Georgia legislative session has begun.  Brenda Smith, ICM Advocacy Committee chair, gives us a preview of what to expect between now and April.  Brenda, an experienced advocate, also shares her “Tips for Effective Advocacy at the Legislature.”  

And get ready for ICM Day at the Capitol.  This year it’s on Presidents Day, Monday, February 18., so it will be easy to get down to the Capitol. Location details soon.
